On your first visit, you will meet privately with a physical therapist to discuss your back or neck pain history and symptoms. The therapist will explain how our program works and what is expected of you to achieve optimal results. You will complete a questionnaire to assess the degree to which your problem is affecting your day to day life. Depending on your present condition and pain level, we may also perform physical testing to determine your current strength and range of motion. The first visit usually lasts one hour. Finally, the therapist will explain how the program works and answer any questions you may have.
At your next appointment you will begin a program designed by the therapist to meet your particular situation. You will have twice weekly appointments lasting about 40 minutes each. Most patients complete the program in eight to ten weeks, because research shows that this is what is required to achieve optimum results. Once you "graduate" you will receive a free one-month membership in our "Healthy Back" program. This program consists of supervised exercise to help you maintain the gains achieved in therapy and keep your back or neck fit for life. After one month, some patients continue with Healthy Back while others choose to follow the simple at-home exercise routine learned during therapy. In all cases we are available to provide information and support.
