As patients progress through our program, most follow a "healing curve" where they initially experience pain-free days followed by an increase in symptoms. Soon, they experience a more gradual, but definite, progression where pain levels decrease and patients find they can do more and more activities. During this process, we provide lots of support and encouragement to help you work through the more difficult periods and then we share in your excitement when you realize that you have regained control of your life and can participate in activities you had thought were gone for good.
One patient excitedly reported one day that she bent down to pick up the paper without a second thought. She had not been able to do this for years! Another reported she had started running again after 3 years on the sidelines, while a third was thrilled that he could ride his motorcycle for hours on end without pain. For those who complete the program at Back to Health, stories like these are the norm, but we never tire of hearing them!
